Almighty and ever loving Father, You who love every man, we pray You  to help us in our weakness as we are celebrating Mary,  the Immaculate Virgin and Mother of God. Grant us, by her intercession, to be healed from our sins. We pray You  in the name of your beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

On March 25th, 1858, day of the sixteenth apparition (Mary will eventually appear 18th times), Bernadette goes to the Grotto where, on the initiative of abbot Peyramale, priest of Lourdes , she asks ” the Lady ” to say her name. By three times, Bernadette asks the question. At the fourth request, ” the Lady ” answers her in local dialect : “Que soy era Immaculada Counceptiou“, that means in English ” I am the Immaculate Conception “. Bernadette did not understand immediately the meaning of this word. The Immaculate Conception, as defined by the Church,  is ” Mary conceived without sin, thanks to the merits of the Cross of the Christ ” (définition of the dogma promulgated in 1854). Bernadette goes  immediately to the Priest’s to tell him   ” the Lady’s name “. He  understands immediately that it is the Mother of God who appears in the Grotto.

Four years after the Apparitions, on 18th January 1862, the Bishop of Tarbes recognises the Apparitions as authentic in the name of the Church.

Some other quotes of what Mary said to Bernadette  :

Would you do me the kindness of coming here for 15 days?”

I do not promise to make you happy in this world but in the other.”

“Go to the spring, drink of it and wash yourself there”.

Go, tell the priests to come here in procession and build a chapel here.”

The Lady says her name: “Que soy era Immaculada Counceptiou”
